If someone gives them a billion pounds I imagine .... mostly mens football and/or taxpayers

Probably been said already but why doesn't the woman's football separate from the men's fa and then if the are independent they can raise their own funds and pay themselves whatever they want.

Maybe they should have made pitches smaller and had less players. Or at the very least make the goals smaller. They just don’t seem to have the power, height or speed, it lacks any real dynamics.

Could have turned it into a sort of footsall thing. Make it a different game based on technique only. Then no one would compare it as much to the men’s game and they could forge their own way.

Right now it’s a bit like watching football in slow motion with essentially no functioning goalkeepers…

The growth and improvement in womens football in the last decade is a good thing.
Anything that gets young girls playing sport and inspires them to stick at it when they see role models is a positive.
They are only just starting to get their own LADY PRODUCT sponsors but still dont generate serious ticket money or broadcast revenue.
There is a World Cup next week (?) and the BBC & ITV had to be railroaded into making an offer after originally offering what the rights are worth.
It can reach a level but that should be through the sponsorship, ticket and broadcast revenue THEY attract.

The problem is very simple. Women players and women in football continue to do this comparison with the men's game. But, for me, they are so far apart its unreal.

It's a bit like blokes who drive the Porsche Challenge Cup saying they should be getting the same money as F1 drivers. No, you shouldn't.

I think the women need to stop comparing the men's game and just grow and develop their own game. Improve the players, improve the standard, improve the level of competition and let the sport grow organically.

Then if eventually that leads to 50,000 crowds, high quality games, genuinely high level of competition and good, skilful, world class players on show, then obviously the money within the money women's game grows through gates, TV rights, sponsors etc etc and the players can earn more.

All this, we want what the men get, just leads to them isolating the women's game from the men's even more.

Apparently female footballers are “ elite “ athletes.

I wouldn’t even describe male footballers as that.

They basically kick a pigs bladder and chase it.

I’d describe people like the Brownlee brothers as elite athletes.

I think many national associations pay their international players the same.
The USA were one of the first because I think their womens team DOES generate more income than the men.
I'm not sure what happens with FIFA prize money and whether that goes to the players but I do know that the England mens team receive a nominal (for them) match payment of £2,000 which since 2007 the team have donated to an FA Foundation which distributes that to charities.
Not sure what the women get or whether any give it to charity.
I suspect not and they are now 'negotiating' with the FA over World Cup bonuses they feel they are entitled to.

Here the revenue that is made by Soccer Canada is split evenly between the two.

To be fair, the women have been more successful on the pitch than the men, so revenue streams are closer than in most countries. Though going to the World Cup means the men have made more lately.

But we are also taking tiny money compared to the UK or even the States.
